Pro Musician Toolkit

A guitar tuner that reads all six strings at once

The tuner in Pro Musician Toolkit shows the note you play, its frequency and how many cents sharp or flat it is. It works for any instrument, and for guitar it has a trick most tuners do not: strum once and it reads all six strings together.

It listens through the microphone only while the tuner is open, and nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

What the tuner shows

The big letter is the note you are playing, with its octave. Above it sit the frequency in Hz and the offset in cents, and the needle sits on a ruler of cents that turns lime when you are in tune.

The tuner also draws the last few seconds under the note, so a string that drifts while it rings shows up straight away.

Strum mode: tune every string at once

Switch from one note at a time to strum mode and the tuner reads all six strings of a guitar in standard tuning, E A D G B E, from a single strum. Each string shows whether it is flat, sharp or in tune, so you only touch the pegs that need it.

If two strings are too close to separate, pluck the one in question alone and the tuner follows it.

Reference tones and reference pitch

  • Tap any note on the keyboard strip to hear a reference tone and tune by ear.
  • Set the reference pitch anywhere from 430 to 450 Hz. The default is A = 440 Hz.
  • Use 442 for orchestras that tune high, or 432 if your band prefers it.

Can I change A = 440?

Yes. The reference pitch can be set from 430 to 450 Hz in Settings.
